Fort Myers Beach 2009

Fort Myers Beach was a BLAST! Weather was comfortable, sightseeing was fun, the game was nice all in all it was a good trip. Alayna was such a trooper the entire time! The day we flew out she was up from 4am-11am before she fell asleep on the plane and the day of the game she went the whole day without a nap and was never crabby which surprised us. She is a really good traveler and goes with the flow. Here is a quick summary of our trip:
Tues - Shell Factory and Nature Park (lots of animals and fun things to see and do), played on the beach, ate pizza and beer in the hotel room
Wed - Edison & Ford estate tour (beautiful homes), Naples zoo, Joe's crab shack, playing on the beach
Thurs - Brad & my dad's fishing adventure lasted 7 hours. They took a boat out 21 miles which took 2 hours, then fished for 3 and then back. They really enjoyed it! Alayna, my mom & I played on the beach and took the trolley down to Times Square. There were tons of shops, restaurants, etc plus a packed beach. We walked down the pier and saw a dolphin and people catching fish then ate at a greek restaurant. I am glad we stayed further down the beach and didn't have to fight the crowds! It was nice to walk out the hotel and onto the beach - my dad just couldn't get over that and thought it was really neat. Alayna rested in the hotel room with my mom. I laid on the beach, went for a walk and came back to enjoy cheese, crackers and wine on the deck while listening to a band. Delightful! When Alayna woke up we played on the beach and then met a friend from college for supper.
Fri - Took a trip to Sanibel island, went to the Twins game, came back to hotel for swimming and ate on the deck while listening to the band. Then all of a sudden everyone was standing up looking towards the gulf. We thought a boat must have been out there but actually they were watching the sun go down. We couldn't believe how fast the sunset and I was able to get a couple pictures. Brad and I relaxed on the patio enjoying a beer and pina colada and actually went in because the wind was kinda chilly!
Alayna loved the beach and collecting shells. It was fun to watch her take in all the animals and run in the sand. We would have loved to stay longer but I think it was the perfect amount of days for her. It was a very nice time and we are trying to think of where we want to go next year.
