Planning, planning and more planning

This month has been crazy for planning.........from stuff at work to sports to a party. I'll start with one of the things we are really excited for and that is our 1860's vintage baseball team, Mankato Baltics (Blue Earth County Historical Society). It started with my dad and Brad playing in a couple games in 2007 and each year we have tried to add more. We tried to get a tournament going last year but could not get enough interest. It's one of those things that people may laugh at or not think much of it until they see or play it and then they can't get enough of it! This year it has taken a giant step as we have been asked by the Saint Paul Saints and Mankato Moondogs to do some promotions and whatnot. We are ecstatic! On May 23rd we will be at Midway Stadium promoting BECHS and our team. We even get to play another vintage baseball team for 30 minutes prior to the Saints game as well as get acknowledged. We have 6 other games on our schedule and 1 tournament plus considering on joining the Vintage Baseball Association. We had a meeting on Tuesday evening - everyone is excited & ready to PLAY BALL! Currently Brad is the manager of this team while my mom, dad and I have been working on PR, organizing uniforms, planning the tournament and getting sponsors. Brad also manages a men's softball team and co-ed volleyball team which are fast approaching...YAY! This consists of scheduling practices, lining up meetings and getting players together. Easier said than done but we are anxious to play some ball. Finally, like we didn't have enough to do, Brad and I decided to plan a Deployment Send Off Party for Brad's oldest brother, Bill. He is part of the Red Bulls and leaves on May 15th for a 1 year tour in Kuwait. We would like to make this a special day for him. Whew! It's a lot of work but is really fun. I enjoy it otherwise I wouldn't do it..........yes, maybe I'll have my own business someday or perhaps a side consulting job. ;)
