Farm America

When I was younger my mom always "dragged" us to historical places or educational activities which at the time I don't think we appreciated as much as I do now. It wouldn't be uncommon for us to be driving down the road and she would spot a brown sign and we would drive sometimes miles to see some piece of land or old building to learn of it's history. Now as a parent it all makes sense and even though Alayna is almost 2 1/2, Brad and I want to introduce her to the history and agriculture. We spent last Sunday at FarmAmerica in Waseca where Alayna had fun riding a tram (tractor pulling a wagon), looking at a log house, old barn, covered wagon, crawling in a dugout, teepees, ringing the bell at an old school house, old schoolbus, church, feed mill, blacksmith and a 1930's replica farm. This was especially fun because there was a clown and music plus goats, a donkey, calf, pigs, chickens, sheep!
We also walked through a corn maze and saw an antique tractor pull. It was a beautiful day to be outside and learn about things that are so close to home. We both agree that it is so better to spend $20 on that versus a video game or movie! Funny thing is now I am looking at those brown signs when driving down the road :)
