It's going to be a long flu season.......

Last Tuesday, we got a call from our daycare provider saying that her daughter had a high temp and another boy had been sick the Thursday before. I called a friend who is a nurse and she recommended that we keep Alayna home on Wednesday if the little girl still had a fever so we did. We sent Alayna to daycare on Thursday but that night she had a very high temp so I stayed home with her on Friday. Yes it is inevitable that our kids get sick but the whole H1N1 makes it scary especially when young, healthy children have suffered the most. The fever has been up and down from Thursday to Saturday. We haven't given her any aspirin since Friday night and the fevers seem to work themselves down. She isn't coughing but does have a stuffed up nose. She has been eating well, drinking plenty of fluids, sleeping normal and playing a lot so I wonder if it is just a common cold but we are still cautious. We have heard from other parents that it seems like the kid is fine and then the fever spikes up again for another day or so. Oh joy! Other kids at our daycare are sick too. It sounds like our daycare provider's husband and little girl are still sick and now their little boy is sick so I am guessing Alayna will be staying home on Monday. I am hoping this isn't the start of many "rounds" of sickness to go around or it really will be a long flu season!

No fun! Gavin and Jace were sick a few weeks ago. Luckily, Kai only had a cough and runny nose, but his doctor put him on a preventative. I hope we don't have to deal with what we dealt with last year. Hope Alayna is feeling better!
