Thanksgiving Weekend

I worked on Black Friday where it was safe and as far away from the crazies as possible! It was enjoyable and then we had a nice drive to the downtown Hilton in Minneapolis. Alayna LOVED the log round pillow (I am sure there is a special name for the fancy dancy pillow but that is what came to mind when trying to describe it). She just couldn’t get enough of it! Then grandpa grabbed one and it was like watching American Gladiators. Couldn’t tell who acted more like a kid……the 63 year old or 2 ½ year old!?
We stayed on the executive floor which gave us access to free food and beverages in the lounge. Then we walked a block to the Holidazzle about 30-minutes prior to the 6:30 start. It was a “warm” night but still got chilly on those downtown streets. It is amazing to me how rude people can be as one lady stood right in front of me. I mean literally her heels were ON my toes and I had to lean back. Finally they got the hint that there was no room and moved behind us. UNREAL! Anyway, the parade was beautiful and Alayna really liked the drums and different costumes. We enjoyed a big family style meal in the hotel restaurant which included a salad, roasted chicken, green beans, mac&cheese, and chocolate cake with ice cream. Saturday we had a nice breakfast in the lounge room and headed over to Macy’s to check out the 8th floor Christmas display. It was really neat and I am glad we went when we did because the lady said from about 10 on the line is outrageously long – down to the 4th floor! We had some lunch and then headed to my cousin’s in Savage who was having a craft boutique along with my aunt and other cousin. Alayna had fun with their dog Bowser and we had a nice visit but it was time to get Miss Alayna in the car and out for a nap. We stopped at Jim’s Apple stand on the way home to get some goodies. Since I was wired from the day I decided to run to Mankato to get some Christmas shopping done then came home to watch holiday movies with Brad & Al. Sunday we went to church and took Alayna to Playhouse Disney Live at the Verizon center in Mankato. It lasted about an hour and 15 minutes and had all of Alayna’s favorites: Little Einsteins, Pooh and Tigger, Handy Manny and Mickey Mouse and friends. It was fun to see her sing and dance along. Nap time for Al while we watched the Vikes. Very enjoyable weekend – it was hard to see it end!!!
