When I pick up Alayna from daycare they are usually playing outside so it can be difficult to get her to go home. Usually I'll say that we'll stop at the park or that she can push the button to open mom's Jeep or something creative so she will go. Well, Monday they were playing in the sandbox and playground equipment and she so badly wanted to stay with her friends. I asked if she wanted to go home and help me pick up poop. She pumped her fist in the air and said, YAY! I was surprised by that response but was pleased and looked up to see another mom with a disgusted kind of "what-the-hell?" type look on her face. I definitely felt the need to explain that when I took Alayna shopping on Sunday that we stopped at Petco to see the animals and get a pooper scooper and she wanted to help. She laughed but I can about imagine what she was thinking.
Anyway, we got home that's exactly what she watend to do. So I gave her the little rake and she raked it in the shovel I held and I dumped it in a pail. She would then run around the lawn and show me where all the piles were. I would scoop them up and she carried the pail from spot to spot. Very good helper! I'm gladly taking it because I know in a few years she won't respond by saying YAY when I ask for help with that stuff. Brad mowed lawn and we made supper. Then Alayna got a pile of books for Brad to read. She climbed up so she could listen to him, her eyes kept getting heavy and before we knew it she was out. Our little one was pooped, haha, sorry I couldn't resist!

(This footstool on top of this rocking chair while we had vacuumed and she climbed up to get a good view)
