State Fair

Sunday, August 29th we made our way to the Great MN Get Together to spend 3 days! We are fortunate that our parents take their camper up so we get to enjoy it. The come up early Monday morning with the pigs and stay until Thursday. It was extremely hot so we didn't walk around too much on Sunday but made up for it on Monday and part of Tuesday. We really enjoy being able to hang out at the pens or in the A/C camper!

Monday we helped my parents unload stuff and set up the pens. Since we have the front row we have a display board about our family and Spot pig decor. Alayna was excited to see grandpa's pigs and was happy that the Largest Boar and Sow with Litter was only a hop, skip and a jump away. She especially liked that the dairy barn was so close and my dad made several trips with her over to watch them milk. The show was on Tuesday morning and we did well (couple 1st's, 2nd's and 4th) but no Grand or Reserves. I didn't show any this year as someone commented "who would waddle more the gilt or Ariane?" Anyway I didn't think it was a good idea so I got the pigs ready for my dad instead of showing. The Spot Breeders always supply a nice lunch to their breeders as well as the ring workers and judges. We stayed for a while longer and headed home while Alayna stayed with Grandpa & Grandma until Thursday.
