28 month update

I swore I would never be the mom that responds by saying her kid's age in months (i.e. 25 months instead of saying 2) BUT since she is in between years I find myself doing it and it even annoys myself! I guess I could say 2 and 4 months, haha. Anyway here is what she is up to these days at 28 months of age.

• Throws fits. She takes an occassional swing at us which lands her in a time out and sometimes she'll put herself in timeout before we get the chance to. She sure knows how to test us!
• mimicks older kids - good and bad I guess. She started spitting and then every once a while she'll scream (maybe during a fit). I asked daycare about it to make sure we are both disciplining and right away she pointed to another kid where Alayna picked it up from. Nevertheless it isn't right so we are doing our best to stop bad behavior like that. She hasn't spit for a while but she will scream when she has a fit. I am hoping it is just a phase!!!
• Listens fairly well but says, "Ok, fine" when we ask her to do something more than once.
• Very shy around people but never shuts up at home! She talks nonstop with us and is silly but around others she is very quiet and reserved. 5+ word sentences and asks a lot of questions.
• Likes books and movies. Lion King is her all time favorite. She sings along to the soundtrack and reads through her book pointing out what happens and all of the characters.
• helps out with laundry, emptying the dishwasher, cooking (shucks corn, takes peas out of pod, etc), picking up toys, and especially likes to vacuum.
• helps daddy feed and water the dogs
• loves all things pork (bacon, ham, sausage, pork chops and pulled pork sandwiches)
• New favorites: black olives, kiwis, lettuce, cucumbers, mustard
• does somersaults
• likes talking to people on the phone
• dresses and puts shoes on by herself
• requests us to sing Yes, Jesus (that's what she calls, Jesus Loves Me) at night
• likes to open the fridge and take out the milk
• sleeps in big girl bed all night, every night! We are SO thankful that she sleeps in her own bed. I think there have been a handful of times where she has slept with us for a couple hours but she went from bassinett to crib to bed quite smoothly.
• completely potty trained! Goes potty all by herself.......love, love, love that!
• climbs everything and loves playgrounds, especially the swing and any type of bar she can swing from. Kids have no fear which again is good and bad!
• Snuggles with daddy when watching movies
• sings along to Michael Jackson especially the Go on girl, Ouh, He he, Hooo, and other high pitched sounds MJ makes. She dances and runs around to it! I really should video her once.
• Loves to swim and uses a kick board at the pool
• Helps grandpa with pig chores (they even bought her small boots)
• counts up to 5 on her fingers, sings ABC's and Twinkle Twinkle, getting good pointing out colors
